Today’s the Day!

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

OK…  It finally time to get ready to go.  After a hectic morning of answering a couple dozen emails, writing two new client proposals,  making several critical phone calls, finishing up the paperwork for the trip – it is now time to pack.

Yep – I’m just getting started.  I am hoping since I travel so often that putting everything together will happen quickly and I can be ready to go in time.  I have about a hour – so I think I’ll be fine.

I didn’t want to hit the road without making a quick entry to say how much I am looking forward to this trip.  I am also excited that we will be able to chronicle this trip as we go – so everyone can share.  Please tell all you friends about this – it will be exciting!

We’ll – Pastor Donn Chapman and Barb are meeting Susie and me in an hour to head to the airport together – so I better get packing.

For those of you on the trip… see you soon!

For those of you following our adventures… stay tuned – theres a lot more to come!

Shalom.

It’s time…

Monday, September 7th, 2009

It is hard to belicve that it is almost time!   Our bags are packed and we are as ready as we could possibly be.    I am beyond excited at the adventure before us.  Yet at the same time we must say goodbye to the kids in the am, that will be the hard part.    They will be in good care with Grandparents.     We have been praying for all of our  new friends to be on this journey into the Holy Land,  can’t wait to meet you all!

Final Countdown

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

Zipping our bags and making out schedules for the kids. Kurt’s parents are coming tomorrow to stay for the week. So many of you have offered help while we’re away. We appreciate so much all the family and friends who are holding down the home-front so we can take this amazing trip. I already feel as if I’m reading the Bible differently as I imagine standing in some of the very spots I’m reading about! Thanks to all of you who have checked out the blog and are planning to “travel” with us. So glad you’re excited too. We sure are!

Follow the Trip on Facebook Too!

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

We have set up a page on Facebook that mirrors the blog.  That way you can follow the trip in whichever way is most convenient.

The weather forecast for the trip is sunny and warm all week. Of course in Israel this time of year it is almost always sunny and warm.

Through this blog we can not only can we tell you about our trip, but we can show you pictures as well.  This is going to be amazing!

DSC01547Speaking of pictures, here is a picture of our guide, Tsion Ben-David.  Tsion is a wonderful man and a great guide.

Warm weather, sunny days, biblical sites, great fellowship, great ministry, memorable experiences, life-changing moments, incredible meals, beautiful hotels… who wouldn’t want to come to Israel.

That’s why we say, once you visit Israel – you’ll never be the same.

Getting ready to go

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

It’s almost time to go!  We are trying to get everything together so that we are fully prepared with everything we might need to be in a foreign country for a week.  The excitement is mounting and we are anticipating God’s presence and peace as we visit the land where Jesus walked (I still can’t believe I will actually be walking where Jesus did, sitting where He sat!)  What a thrill and a blessing!

It’s Almost Tuesday!

George and me croppedGeorge and I are getting excited about our first trip together to the Holy Land. Just thinking about walking where Jesus lived is mind bloggling! We’ll be making a big loop throughout the Holy Land so watch our travels as we post pictures and video. We’ll start off in Tel Aviv and then head up to Nazareth. From there we’ll stay in Tiberias by the Sea of Galilee for two nights. From there we’ll head south to the Dead Sea, and then back up the Jordan River where Jesus was baptized, and then west through Jericho into Jerusalem. We’ll be staying in Jerusalem for three nights. I think the highlight of the trip for me will be walking the Via Dolorsa where Jesus carried the cross. Wow. Thanks to the Israel Ministry of Tourism for this marvelous opportunity to join with other pastors and wives for this unforgettable trip!

An Amazing Opportunity

Friday, September 4th, 2009

Ralph & Rhonda Sigler
We know this is an amazing opportunity, and we are thankful. I only received my passport last week — I really doubted that we were going to make it.
All the other pastors we know who have been to Israel tell us, “This trip will change your life.” This is the one place on earth that I have longed to go.
